HOW WE MAKE COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS

The Sierra Kings Health Care District looks forward to partnering with stakeholders to invest in locally develop programs that address locally identified needs. Through grant-making, the District will make investments that impact health and wellness outcomes in Reedley, Parlier, Squaw Valley, Dunlap, and Miramonte. The District will employ user-friendly grant-making processes that promote accountability while easing access for first-time grant seekers.

This 2021-2024 Strategic Plan aims to fund programming using the following methods:

Tri-Annual Initiatives

The District will fund grants to impact its three Priorities (Obesity, Diabetes, and Behavioral Health) using the following mechanisms:

General Grants – Grants to develop and/or expand programming towards impacting District priorities. These grants are likely to be granted for use as seed funding to pilot new and innovative programs Grants to develop and/or expand programming towards impacting District priorities. Mini Grants – Grants that average $5K to afford one-time (as opposed to ongoing) projects to impact District priorities. These grants are likely to be granted for use in areas of community capacity building and events.

Special Initiatives

Under this initiative the District will entertain grants based upon emerging needs in the community, beyond the District’s three priorities. The District and/or stakeholders may bring forward new trends and funding needs for consideration. 

Each year during the budgetary process, the District will define that amount of funding dedicated to their Tri-Annual and Special Initiatives.
